Artist Bio:

William Watson Jnr 1847-1921
Active 1866 - 1920. William Watson was born 1847 in Islington, London, England  and died 26 March 1921 in Capel Garmon, Llanrwst, Denbighshire, Wales. He married Eleanor Davies 1871 in Birkenhead.

William Watson Jnr was a late 19th century Liverpool painter of animals and landscapes.  A pupil of Landseer and Bonheur, and son of W Watson Snr, he painted mainly highland landscapes with sheep and highland cattle on rugged mountains, with the mist swirling down the glens.  The rich Victorian patrons commissioned artists to paint these scenes to adorn their newly built villas and country estates over the border.

William Watson Jnr exhibited in London in 1866-1872, at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street.
