Courting Scene, oil on panel. A very charming little painting on panel showing a French couple enjoing a glass of wine on a fine autumn day. Kratke knew how to paint the fine silks that were often worn by the ladies and dandies of their time.

Charles Louis Kratke was a French painter: 1848 to 1921. Charles loved to paint French courtship scenes, where the couples would be dressed in the finest regalia of their times. Many works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'La cour' sold at Christie's New York '19th Century European Art' in 2004 for $7,170.
